Pamper Yourself - You Deserve It

By Robin Reckard Everyone, including busy moms, need to take some time to pamper themselves every now and again. After all you need to take care of yourself in order to be able to take care of others. Have a mom’s lunch out once in awhile. Get together with friends and relax while dining. If babysitters or money is in short supply take turns hosting the mom’s lunch and maybe some older siblings can help keep an eye on the little ones. If you have children that nap don’t be afraid to use that time to take a nap yourself once in awhile, or even all the time if you need it and can get away with it. On the occasions when you are going to get your hair done or a manicure make sure dad is home to watch the kids so you can really enjoy the pampering. Trade babysitting with a friend in order to give you each a night out with your husband. After the kids are in bed forget the laundry and dishes once in awhile and take a long hot bath if you want. You can even throw in some homemade bath salts or bubble bath if you like. Treat yourself to a homemade facial occasionally. You can easily mix one up with the ingredients in your own kitchen. Here is one of my favorites. I take a tablespoon or two of honey, mix it with 3 or 4 tablespoons of oatmeal, then I add in the ripest banana I have and bingo I have made my own homemade beauty recipe that makes my skin look and fell great. (It lasts about a week in the fridge by the way). So go ahead and indulge yourself a little bit occasionally, you will be a better mom for it. Frustrated Business Owners Ask Marketing Guru Why Traditional Marketing Doesn’t Work

By George Ishee In a recent brain storming meeting with a group of small business owners, one of the owners asked me to explain why traditional marketing doesnt work anymore. As the marketing guru in the group, I gave them 3 simple reasons why and how to overcome their marketing problem. I had a group of frustrated business owners sitting on the edge of their seat to hear the answers, the pressure was on. I began by telling them the first reason traditional marketing doesnt work is the small business owner doesnt really know much about marketing and relies on the salesman of the marketing medias to tell them what they need. The problem is they use the trust me method which is give me your money, Ill run your ad and trust me; the leads will come rolling in. They strong arm you to spend your whole budget with them and you guessed it, it doesnt work. I advise that instead of spending all your money upfront, ask for 20 recent advertisers and contacts. Call them and ask them how their ad did. Ask them what worked and what didnt. Understand the market that you are playing in. Then run an ad with that media company but only for a short period and test it. The rule is test, test and test. The second thing I told the group of business owners was that it takes five times as much money to get a new client as it is to get another order from an existing customer. Who is more likely to give you another order than your existing clients who already know and love you? You can sell them another product you have or cross sell up-sell or resell them again. I told them to take 80% of their planned budget and use it to make a 3 contact (letter or email) follow campaign and make the first contact simply a thank you for being a customer. The second contact is to offer another product or resale, and the last contact is to ask for 3 referrals. I told them this should go out to every customer who has purchased from you in the past 5 years. Finally I said that they need to implement an automated system that will nurture there suspects, prospects, and customers and then they could watch their lead generation grow. Finally I said they needed to get out of the lead generation mode and let a system do it for them so they can do the things they like best in their business like delivering their products and helping customers. Now these same business owners can use these simple ideas to bring in more leads, customers and referrals. George Ishee is the Founder and President of PlumTree Marketing. Practice Speaking

By Jeff Altman For many people, interviewing is not a natural act any more than going on a blind date is. You are asked a bunch of questions about your work. You answer them. They ask a bunch more; you answer them. Youre graded on your performance (you receive a job offer or not). Yet interviews are predictable processes and as such can be planned for What does an employer want to know about you? 1. Do you have the skills to do the job that needs to be filled? 2. How will you fit in with my company? 3. If I hire you, are you someone I will need to worry about? How does this get determined in an interview? 1. By asking questions about what you have done and how you did it or decided it should be done. 2. By asking behavioral questions that will give an employer a sense of the scope of your experiences 3. By asking concrete questions to ascertain your knowledge 4. By observing your body language or physical response to questioning to observe whether it is consistent with a successful person. The fourth way (observing body language or physical response to questions) is particularly interesting because it is not skill or experience based and is completely subjective and emotional. AND it is part of the decision process. And want are firms trying to find out about you? Leadership. Honesty. Trustworthiness. You can practice with a friend or family member but they may not be much better than you. So how do you practice you presentation and get immediate feedback in order to improve your presentation and demonstrate these attributes? Toastmasters (www.toastmasters.org) offers people an opportunity to practice how to speak throughout their program. Whether you answer extemporaneous questions off the cuff for 1-2 minutes in Table Topics (Its warm! Its summer! People start to go to the beach and spending time outdoors. Tell us about a time you had fun at the beach, Jeff. Notice that you only find out when you will speak at the end when you hear your name) or by doing actual 4-6 minute speeches, Toastmasters offers concrete opportunities to get used to being on the spot as happens in an interview. It also gives you an opportunity to observe others and learn from them and from the evaluations that are given. There are Toastmasters clubs throughout the world. To find one, you can go to http://www.toastmasters.org/find/. Registration Forms: How to Make Them Irresistible with Cancellation Policies

By Bill Flagg Attract unsure registrants to register with an irresistible “no risk” cancellation policy. Make it easier for them to buy now because they always have the option to change their minds later. It takes the pressure off and makes it risk-free for registrants to say “Sign me up!” Be Registrant-Friendly There are so many events with strict cancellation policies and liability statements that it is refreshing to see an event that is registrant-friendly. Similar to having money-back guarantees, the number of additional registrants attracted by a “no risk” cancellation policy will far outweigh the number of people you may refund. Liability Statements are a… Liability Liability statements may reduce your risk, but it’s at the cost of valuable registrants. By using such statements, a provider may give prospective registrants the impression that the provider often cancels their events. Otherwise, why would the statement be included in the offer? By planting a seed of doubt in the prospects mind, a provider creates uncertainty about whether an event will make it. Restrictive cancellation policies and liability statements cause prospective registrants to postpone their decision until they are absolutely sure of going. This lack of enrollment can play a part in the cancellation of an event. So use a no-risk cancellation policy. Get rid of your liability statements. Enjoy increased attendance at your events. I sincerely hope this article makes your conference and event registration even more successful! Best Direct Loans

By [http://ezinearticles.com/?expert=Richard_Romando]Richard Romando A direct loan is the best way to apply for a loan. It is defined as a loan given to a person without going through a third party. It eliminates any third party involvement. The best direct loans can be found by comparing various options made available by financial institutions. The Internet is an excellent medium for this kind of research. Direct loans can be taken to purchase a home, car or education. Loans can also be taken against any item that is purchased. A lien can be put on items like a home or a car. They can be held as collaterals. One of the most popular direct loans is for education. Students apply for education loans while seeking admission to colleges. They generally pay off the installments over the duration of their studies. It is also possible to consolidate student loans. Lenders have counseling sessions set up for students to help them choose the right loan. Direct loans are easy to apply for. There are many websites that afford the opportunity to fill out a general application. In turn, companies who are looking for business will contact the applicant for further information. Most of the websites offer interest calculators to work out monthly payments, amount of the loan and period of the loan. Most lenders check the credit history of any borrower before approving a loan. If a person is applying online, it is imperative that all relevant documents are submitted. This is because the company only looks at facts and figures for approval. It is necessary to read through the terms and conditions carefully. Interest rates and terms of the loan can be deceiving, so they must be clearly understood by the borrower. Don’t be afraid to ask questions, and don?t sign anything until you know what you are signing. Sometimes, a company might offer loans at a lower rate of interest but charge a high processing fee, negating the effect of any discount. Conversely, a company may claim to have no processing fee, yet attach a higher rate of interest or higher monthly payments. It is possible to select the best direct loans with some patience and research. Proper documentation will smoothen the process further. Wedding Etiquette - Guidelines For Who Pays The Bill

By L Hayes Although beautiful, most weddings are expensive, particularly if the bride and groom have an extended family and long list of friends. When planning a wedding, keep in mind that a number rules have been developed to serve as guidelines. These, of course, are not set in stone. Today, in addition to the traditional wedding where the brides family pays the majority of costs, we also see weddings in which the bride and groom pay for everything. Therefore, understanding the appropriate etiquette for a wedding budget can be confusing. In helping you plan your upcoming wedding, we wanted to provide information specific to a more traditional wedding, specific as to who pays for what. Bride and Brides Family (1) Catering, dinnerware rental, table rental (2) Wedding program, invitation, printed napkin (3) Music, to include church organist/pianist, live band, or DJ (4) Reception hall and/or church rental (5) Wedding photography and videography (6) Wedding cake and wedding favors (7) Decorations for church and reception hall (8) Bride’s dress (9) Groom’s wedding ring (10) Gifts for bridesmaids Groom and Grooms Family (1) Rehearsal dinner (2) Clergyman fee (3) Limousine rental fee (4) Honeymoon (5) Wine, liquor, and beer for the reception (6) Groom’s suit or tuxedo (7) Marriage license (8) Bride’s bouquet (9) Boutonnieres for groom, groomsmen, ushers (10) Corsages for bridesmaids and mothers of both bride and groom (11) Gifts for groomsmen, ushers, best man (12) Bride’s wedding ring (13) Accessories (ties, gloves, etc) Best Man and Groomsmen (1) Individual wedding suit or tuxedo (2) Bachelor party Maid of Honor and Bridesmaids (1) Individual formal wear (2) Bachelorette party (3) Bridal shower Remember, the above mentioned are considered proper etiquette for a traditional wedding but you should never be afraid to modify them, as fits your circumstances. With this information, you have a better sense of how to manage the budget without feeling bad about asking for assistance where required. The goal with any wedding is to create a festive, fun, and memorable occasion. Therefore, while you can follow budget etiquette, the bride and grooms family should be flexible, willing to help when and where needed. For any couple, the goal to a successful wedding would be to start with careful planning, paying close attention to both small and large details. One of the most uncomfortable aspects of a wedding is money. Keep in mind that some situations may be that, one side of the family is in a better financial position to assist than the other side. For the bride and groom, it is important to be realistic about the number of invited guests. As an example, the normal rules of etiquette for a wedding budget would be built around 150 to 200 guests. For this reason, when the guest list is greater, the bride and groom should be willing to help financially. In summary, the bottom line is that wedding budget etiquette for any nuptials is not difficult but it does require some degree of flexibility. Establish a budget from the beginning, which will help the family work on a budget, as well. The result will be that everyone is on the same page about what to expect so the focus can be solely on the union of the bride and groom, ensuring the event is amazing and nothing less, regardless of the budget.
